Brendan has been reading on a high level, I would say since he left the wonderful Ms. Bauer's class when he was not yet 4. I attribute a lot of this to the school/daycare that he has been in since he was 12 weeks old. I knew when I walked in to the daycare and they had lesson plans for the infants that this was the school for us! I know it sounds a little much, but the lesson plans are appropriate and whether it includes finishing their 2 ounce bottles when they are babies to completing simple math problems when they are in the pre-school, I have always been impressed with what our kids get from the school they attend. We have called it school from day one, instead of daycare...and I really believe that is what they are. Sure...they have fun, goof around, watch movies, act silly and are allowed to be kids....I would not have it any other way....but as I sing the praises of this school....
I am proud to say, that my little 1st grader has been named one of the top readers in the whole 1st grade - out of 90 plus kids. He is reading on a 5th grade level. :-)))) PROUD MOMMY MOMENT. :-)
B will be participating in a Junior Great Books Program where he reads short stories and poetry and then attends a weekly group dicussion with the others in the selected group. A Book Club for kids, so to speak....how cool!!
Thank you for allowing me to brag on My Little Scholar!
